Making a Family Scrapbook

by Dionna Sanchez

I love looking at new ideas that will help you savor family memories. I think memories and ideas that can be passed from generation to generation are important. It is heartwarming and increases family bonding when you learn to start fun, new traditions within your family unit.

The common theme within most of these ideas is "simple." The things you do that create memories the most never have to be elaborate or expensive. It can be the simple, easy ideas that create the most long-lived memories. One of those simple ideas is to start a family scrapbook.

Just get a 1 or 2 inch binder and insert some pocket protector pages. You can create a fun cover on your computer with some cute graphics and insert it into the front of the binder. Then, let everyone in your family know that this scrapbook is all about savoring the special events and memories you have together as a family. Everyone is allowed to insert things into it.

The items inside will reveal what is important to your family. Important things to your family could range from special cards and letters from grandparents, school programs and other special postcards, brochures, menus of your family hangout and more.

You will see your scrapbook soon expand and need a new binder! It will be fun to flip through and reminisce and equally exciting to see your spouse and children get involved in saving memories of your lifetime.
